Binds to the sterol regulatory element 1 (SRE-1) (5\'-ATCACCCCAC-3\'). Has dual sequence specificity binding to both an E-box motif (5\'-ATCACGTGA-3\') and to SRE-1 (5\'-ATCACCCCAC-3\').
