ORM1-like protein 3 is a protein that is encoded by the ORMDL3 gene. It belongs to a family of proteins known as ORM proteins, which play a crucial role in regulating the levels of sphingolipids - a class of lipids that are involved in various cellular processes. In particular, ORMDL3 has been shown to be a key player in the regulation of sphingolipid synthesis, and aberrant expression of this protein has been implicated in a number of diseases, including asthma.
