CRCL, also called CALCRL and Calcitonin gene-related peptide type 1 receptor, is a member of the G-protein coupled receptor (GPCR) family, a group of proteins that play a key role in transmitting signals from the outside of the cell to the inside. Specifically, CRCL is known for its involvement in regulating the activity of a neuropeptide called calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP), which is involved in pain transmission, migraine development, and vasodilation. CRCL plays a crucial role in mediating the effects of CGRP on various cellular processes.
