BACKGROUND

Epithelial cell adhesion molecule(EpCAM, CD326) is a type I transmembrane glycoprotein that functions as a homophilic, epithelial-specific intercellular cell-adhesion molecule. In addition to cell adhesion, EpCAM is also involved in cellular signaling, cell migration, proliferation, and differentiation.
