The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the keratin gene family. As a type II hair keratin, it is a basic protein which heterodimerizes with type I keratins to form hair and nails. The type II hair keratins are clustered in a region of chromosome 12q13 and are grouped into two distinct subfamilies based on structure similarity. One subfamily, consisting of KRTHB1, KRTHB3, and KRTHB6, is highly related. The other less-related subfamily includes KRTHB2, KRTHB4, and KRTHB5. All hair keratins are expressed in the hair follicle; this hair keratin, as well as KRTHB3 and KRTHB6, is found primarily in the hair cortex. Mutations in this gene and KRTHB6 have been observed in patients with a rare dominant hair disease, monilethrix.
The KRT81 Polyclonal Antibody is a highly specific and sensitive tool designed for the detection and analysis of Keratin 81 (KRT81) protein expression. This antibody is produced using advanced immunization techniques, ensuring high affinity and specificity towards KRT81.
KRT81 is a member of the keratin family, which plays a crucial role in maintaining the structural integrity of epithelial cells. It is predominantly expressed in the hair follicles, specifically in the inner root sheath and medulla. Aberrant expression of KRT81 has been implicated in various dermatological disorders, making it an important target for research and diagnostic purposes.
The KRT81 Polyclonal Antibody exhibits exceptional performance in various applications, including immunohistochemistry (IHC), western blotting, and immunofluorescence. It demonstrates minimal cross-reactivity with other keratin isoforms, ensuring accurate and reliable results.
This antibody is supplied as a liquid formulation, ready for immediate use. It is provided in a convenient size, allowing for multiple experiments without compromising its quality. Each batch of the KRT81 Polyclonal Antibody undergoes rigorous quality control tests to ensure consistency and reproducibility.
In summary, the KRT81 Polyclonal Antibody is a valuable tool for researchers and clinicians involved in the study of keratin biology and dermatological disorders. Its high specificity, sensitivity, and versatility make it an indispensable asset in various experimental settings.
