ALOX5 encodes a member of the lipoxygenase gene family and plays a dual role in the synthesis of leukotrienes from arachidonic acid. The arachidonate 5-lipoxygenasen, which is expressed specifically in bone marrow-derived cells, catalyzes the conversion of arachidonic acid to 5(S)-hydroperoxy-6-trans-8,11,14-cis-eicosatetraenoic acid, and further to the allylic epoxide 5(S)-trans-7,9-trans-11,14-cis-eicosatetrenoic acid (leukotriene A4). Leukotrienes are important mediators of a number of inflammatory and allergic conditions. Mutations in the promoter region of this gene lead to a diminished response to antileukotriene drugs used in the treatment of asthma and may also be associated with atherosclerosis and several cancers. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.

The Phospho-5-LO (S523) Polyclonal Antibody is a highly specific and sensitive tool designed for the detection and quantification of phosphorylated 5-lipoxygenase (5-LO) protein at serine 523 residue. This antibody is produced using advanced polyclonal antibody technology, ensuring high affinity and specificity towards the phosphorylated form of 5-LO.

The Phospho-5-LO (S523) Polyclonal Antibody exhibits exceptional performance in various applications, including Western blotting, immunoprecipitation, and immunofluorescence. It enables researchers to investigate the phosphorylation status of 5-LO in different cellular contexts, providing valuable insights into the regulation and signaling pathways involving this critical enzyme.

With its superior sensitivity and specificity, this antibody offers reliable and reproducible results, making it an indispensable tool for studying the role of 5-LO phosphorylation in various biological processes, such as inflammation, immune response, and lipid metabolism. Its versatility allows for the analysis of multiple sample types, including cell lysates, tissue extracts, and purified protein samples.
