Mitochondrial uncoupling proteins (UCP) are members of the larger family of mitochondrial anion carrier proteins (MACP). UCPs separate oxidative phosphorylation from ATP synthesis with energy dissipated as heat, also referred to as the mitochondrial proton leak. UCPs facilitate the transfer of anions from the inner to the outer mitochondrial membrane and the return transfer of protons from the outer to the inner mitochondrial membrane. They also reduce the mitochondrial membrane potential in mammalian cells. The different UCPs have tissue-specific expression; this gene is primarily expressed in skeletal muscle. This gene's protein product is postulated to protect mitochondria against lipid-induced oxidative stress. Expression levels of this gene increase when fatty acid supplies to mitochondria exceed their oxidation capacity and the protein enables the export of fatty acids from mitochondria. UCPs contain the three solcar protein domains typically found in MACPs. Two splice variants have been found for this gene.

The UCP3 Polyclonal Antibody is a highly specific and reliable tool designed for the detection and quantification of UCP3 protein expression in various biological samples. This antibody has been meticulously developed using advanced immunization techniques, ensuring its exceptional sensitivity and specificity.

UCP3, also known as Uncoupling Protein 3, is a mitochondrial protein that plays a crucial role in energy metabolism and thermogenesis. It is primarily expressed in skeletal muscle and brown adipose tissue, where it facilitates the uncoupling of oxidative phosphorylation from ATP synthesis, thereby dissipating energy as heat. UCP3 has been implicated in the regulation of body weight, glucose homeostasis, and lipid metabolism, making it an intriguing target for research in the fields of obesity, diabetes, and metabolic disorders.

The UCP3 Polyclonal Antibody exhibits outstanding performance in various applications, including Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence. It recognizes endogenous levels of UCP3 protein, displaying minimal cross-reactivity with related proteins. This antibody demonstrates excellent sensitivity, enabling the detection of low-abundance UCP3 protein in complex biological samples.

With its high specificity and sensitivity, the UCP3 Polyclonal Antibody is an indispensable tool for researchers investigating the role of UCP3 in energy metabolism and its potential implications in various physiological and pathological conditions. Its reliable performance and reproducibility make it an ideal choice for both basic research and clinical studies.
