Microtubules of the eukaryotic cytoskeleton perform essential and diverse functions and are composed of a heterodimer of alpha and beta tubulins. TUBA1A encoding these microtubule constituents belong to the tubulin superfamily, which is composed of six distinct families. Genes from the alpha, beta and gamma tubulin families are found in all eukaryotes. The alpha and beta tubulins represent the major components of microtubules, while gamma tubulin plays a critical role in the nucleation of microtubule assembly. There are multiple alpha and beta tubulin genes, which are highly conserved among species. This gene encodes alpha tubulin and is highly similar to the mouse and rat Tuba1 genes. Northern blotting studies have shown that the gene expression is predominantly found in morphologically differentiated neurologic cells. This gene is one of three alpha-tubulin genes in a cluster on chromosome 12q. Mutations in this gene cause lissencephaly type 3 (LIS3) - a neurological condition characterized by microcephaly, mental retardation, and early-onset epilepsy and caused by defective neuronal migration. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding distinct isoforms.
The TUBULIN ALPHA POLYCLONAL ANTIBODY is a highly specific and sensitive antibody that has been designed to detect and quantify tubulin alpha in various biological samples. This antibody is produced by immunizing animals with a synthetic peptide corresponding to the N-terminal region of human tubulin alpha. The resulting polyclonal antibody has been purified and validated for use in a variety of applications, including Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence.
The TUBULIN ALPHA POLYCLONAL ANTIBODY is a valuable tool for researchers studying the cytoskeleton and microtubule dynamics in cells. It has been shown to specifically recognize tubulin alpha in a variety of species, including human, mouse, rat, and bovine. This antibody has also been shown to have minimal cross-reactivity with other tubulin isoforms, ensuring accurate and reliable results.
In addition to its high specificity and sensitivity, the TUBULIN ALPHA POLYCLONAL ANTIBODY is also highly versatile. It can be used in a variety of sample types, including tissue lysates, cell lysates, and purified proteins. Its compatibility with multiple detection methods also makes it a valuable tool for researchers working in different fields.
Overall, the TUBULIN ALPHA POLYCLONAL ANTIBODY is a reliable and effective tool for researchers studying tubulin alpha and microtubule dynamics in cells. Its high specificity, sensitivity, and versatility make it a valuable addition to any research laboratory.
