Proper cohesion of sister chromatids is a prerequisite for the correct segregation of chromosomes during cell division. The cohesin multiprotein complex is required for sister chromatid cohesion. This complex is composed partly of two structural maintenance of chromosomes (SMC) proteins, SMC3 and either SMC1B or the protein encoded by this gene. Most of the cohesin complexes dissociate from the chromosomes before mitosis, although those complexes at the kinetochore remain. Therefore, the encoded protein is thought to be an important part of functional kinetochores. In addition, this protein interacts with BRCA1 and is phosphorylated by ATM, indicating a potential role for this protein in DNA repair. SMC1A (structural maintenance of chromosomes 1A), which belongs to the SMC gene family, is located in an area of the X-chromosome that escapes X inactivation. Mutations in SMC1A result in Cornelia de Lange syndrome. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.

The SMC1 Polyclonal Antibody is a highly specific and reliable tool designed for the detection and analysis of Structural Maintenance of Chromosomes 1 (SMC1) protein. This antibody is produced using advanced immunization techniques, ensuring high affinity and sensitivity. It has been extensively validated for various applications, including Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence.

The SMC1 Polyclonal Antibody exhibits exceptional performance in detecting endogenous levels of SMC1 protein in a wide range of species, including human, mouse, and rat. It recognizes both phosphorylated and non-phosphorylated forms of SMC1, enabling comprehensive investigation of its post-translational modifications and functional implications.

With its superior specificity and sensitivity, this antibody offers researchers a valuable tool for studying the role of SMC1 in chromosomal maintenance, DNA repair, and cell cycle regulation. Its robust performance ensures accurate and reproducible results, making it an ideal choice for both basic research and clinical applications.

The SMC1 Polyclonal Antibody is supplied as a liquid formulation, ready to use for various experimental procedures. It is provided in a convenient size, allowing for multiple applications without compromising its quality. Each batch of this antibody undergoes rigorous quality control tests to ensure consistent performance and reliability.

In summary, the SMC1 Polyclonal Antibody is a highly specific and reliable tool that enables researchers to investigate the role of SMC1 protein in various biological processes. Its exceptional performance, versatility, and consistent quality make it an indispensable asset for any laboratory conducting research in the field of chromosomal biology and DNA repair.
