Mothers against decapentaplegic homolog 2 encoded by SMAD2 belongs to the SMAD, a family of proteins similar to the gene products of the Drosophila gene ‘mothers against decapentaplegic' (Mad) and the C. elegans gene Sma. SMAD proteins are signal transducers and transcriptional modulators that mediate multiple signaling pathways. This protein mediates the signal of the transforming growth factor (TGF)-beta, and thus regulates multiple cellular processes, such as cell proliferation, apoptosis, and differentiation. This protein is recruited to the TGF-beta receptors through its interaction with the SMAD anchor for receptor activation (SARA) protein. In response to TGF-beta signal, this protein is phosphorylated by the TGF-beta receptors. The phosphorylation induces the dissociation of this protein with SARA and the association with the family member SMAD4. The association with SMAD4 is important for the translocation of this protein into the nucleus, where it binds to target promoters and forms a transcription repressor complex with other cofactors. This protein can also be phosphorylated by activin type 1 receptor kinase, and mediates the signal from the activin. Alternatively spliced transcript variants have been observed for this gene.
The Smad2 Polyclonal Antibody is a highly specific and sensitive tool designed for the detection and analysis of Smad2 protein expression in various biological samples. This antibody is produced using advanced immunization techniques, ensuring high affinity and specificity towards the target protein.
Smad2 is a key component of the transforming growth factor-beta (TGF-β) signaling pathway, playing a crucial role in cellular processes such as cell proliferation, differentiation, and apoptosis. The Smad2 Polyclonal Antibody recognizes both the phosphorylated and non-phosphorylated forms of Smad2, enabling comprehensive analysis of its activation status.
This antibody has been extensively validated in various experimental applications, including Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence. It exhibits excellent performance in detecting endogenous levels of Smad2 in a wide range of species, including human, mouse, and rat.
The Smad2 Polyclonal Antibody is supplied as a liquid formulation, allowing for easy and convenient handling. It is provided in a ready-to-use format, eliminating the need for time-consuming and complex preparation steps. The antibody is also available in different sizes to accommodate various experimental requirements.
With its exceptional sensitivity, specificity, and versatility, the Smad2 Polyclonal Antibody is an indispensable tool for researchers studying TGF-β signaling and its associated cellular processes. Its reliable performance and consistent results make it an ideal choice for both basic research and clinical applications.
