Retinitis pigmentosa is an inherited progressive disease which is a major cause of blindness in western communities. It can be inherited as an autosomal dominant, autosomal recessive, or X-linked recessive disorder. In the autosomal dominant form, which comprises about 25% of total cases, approximately 30% of families have mutations in the gene encoding the rod photoreceptor-specific protein rhodopsin. This is the transmembrane protein which, when photoexcited, initiates the visual transduction cascade. Defects in this gene are also one of the causes of congenital stationary night blindness.

The Rhodopsin Polyclonal Antibody is a highly specific and sensitive antibody designed for the detection of rhodopsin protein in various biological samples. This antibody is produced by immunizing rabbits with a synthetic peptide corresponding to the C-terminal region of human rhodopsin protein. The antibody has been purified using protein A affinity chromatography and is supplied as a liquid formulation in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) with 0.02% sodium azide as a preservative.

The Rhodopsin Polyclonal Antibody has been extensively validated for use in various applications, including Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence. It has been shown to specifically recognize rhodopsin protein in various species, including human, mouse, and rat. The antibody has also been shown to have minimal cross-reactivity with other related proteins, ensuring high specificity and sensitivity in detection.

This antibody is an essential tool for researchers studying the function and expression of rhodopsin protein in various biological systems. Its high specificity and sensitivity make it an ideal choice for detecting low levels of rhodopsin protein in complex biological samples. The Rhodopsin Polyclonal Antibody is available in various sizes to meet the needs of different research applications. It is a reliable and effective tool for researchers in the field of vision research, neuroscience, and molecular biology.
