PTEN was identified as a tumor suppressor that is mutated in a large number of cancers at high frequency. Pphosphatase and tensin homolog encoded by PTEN is a phosphatidylinositol-3,4,5-trisphosphate 3-phosphatase. It contains a tensin like domain as well as a catalytic domain similar to that of the dual specificity protein tyrosine phosphatases. Unlike most of the protein tyrosine phosphatases, t phosphatase and tensin homolog preferentially dephosphorylates phosphoinositide substrates. It negatively regulates intracellular levels of phosphatidylinositol-3,4,5-trisphosphate in cells and functions as a tumor suppressor by negatively regulating AKT/PKB signaling pathway. The use of a non-canonical (CUG) upstream initiation site produces a longer isoform that initiates translation with a leucine, and is thought to be preferentially associated with the mitochondrial inner membrane. This longer isoform may help regulate energy metabolism in the mitochondria. A pseudogene of PTEN is found on chromosome 9. Alternative splicing and the use of multiple translation start codons results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
The PTEN Polyclonal Antibody is a highly specific and sensitive antibody designed for the detection of PTEN protein in various biological samples. This antibody is produced by immunizing rabbits with a synthetic peptide corresponding to the C-terminal region of human PTEN protein. The PTEN Polyclonal Antibody has been extensively validated for its specificity and sensitivity in Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence applications.
The PTEN protein is a tumor suppressor that plays a critical role in regulating cell growth, proliferation, and survival. Loss of PTEN function has been implicated in the development and progression of various human cancers, including prostate, breast, and brain tumors. Therefore, the PTEN Polyclonal Antibody is an essential tool for researchers studying the role of PTEN in cancer biology and other diseases.
The PTEN Polyclonal Antibody is supplied as a purified IgG fraction in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) with 0.02% sodium azide as a preservative. The antibody is available in various sizes and formats to meet the needs of different applications. The product is manufactured under strict quality control standards to ensure consistent performance and reproducibility.
In summary, the PTEN Polyclonal Antibody is a reliable and high-quality reagent for the detection of PTEN protein in various biological samples. Its specificity and sensitivity make it an essential tool for researchers studying the role of PTEN in cancer biology and other diseases.
