MMP2 is a member of the matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) gene family, that are zinc-dependent enzymes capable of cleaving components of the extracellular matrix and molecules involved in signal transduction. 72 kDa type IV collagenase encoded by MMP2 is a gelatinase A, type IV collagenase, that contains three fibronectin type II repeats in its catalytic site that allow binding of denatured type IV and V collagen and elastin. Unlike most MMP family members, activation of this protein can occur on the cell membrane. This enzyme can be activated extracellularly by proteases, or, intracellulary by its S-glutathiolation with no requirement for proteolytical removal of the pro-domain. This protein is thought to be involved in multiple pathways including roles in the nervous system, endometrial menstrual breakdown, regulation of vascularization, and metastasis. Mutations in this gene have been associated with Winchester syndrome and Nodulosis-Arthropathy-Osteolysis (NAO) syndrome. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.
The MMP-2 Polyclonal Antibody is a highly specific and sensitive tool designed for the detection and quantification of matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2) in various biological samples. This antibody is produced using advanced immunization techniques, ensuring high affinity and specificity towards MMP-2.
Matrix metalloproteinases are a family of enzymes that play a crucial role in tissue remodeling and degradation of extracellular matrix components. MMP-2, also known as gelatinase A, is one of the key members of this family and is involved in various physiological and pathological processes, including wound healing, tissue repair, and cancer metastasis.
The MMP-2 Polyclonal Antibody is rigorously tested and validated to ensure its reliability and accuracy in detecting MMP-2. It exhibits minimal cross-reactivity with other matrix metalloproteinases, ensuring specificity in its detection. This antibody is suitable for use in various applications, including Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISA).
With its high sensitivity and specificity, the MMP-2 Polyclonal Antibody provides researchers and clinicians with a valuable tool for studying the role of MMP-2 in various biological processes and diseases. Its reliable performance and consistent results make it an essential component in research and diagnostic laboratories.
