GAD1 encodes one of several forms of glutamic acid decarboxylase, identified as a major autoantigen in insulin-dependent diabetes. The enzyme encoded is responsible for catalyzing the production of gamma-aminobutyric acid from L-glutamic acid. A pathogenic role for this enzyme has been identified in the human pancreas since it has been identified as an autoantigen and an autoreactive T cell target in insulin-dependent diabetes. This gene may also play a role in the stiff man syndrome. Deficiency in this enzyme has been shown to lead to pyridoxine dependency with seizures. Alternative splicing of this gene results in two products, the predominant 67-kD form and a less-frequent 25-kD form.
The GAD67 Polyclonal Antibody is a highly specific and sensitive tool designed for the detection and quantification of the Glutamate Decarboxylase 67 (GAD67) protein. This antibody is produced using a polyclonal approach, ensuring a diverse range of antibodies that target different epitopes of the GAD67 protein.
The GAD67 Polyclonal Antibody has been extensively validated for its specificity and sensitivity in various applications, including Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence. It exhibits minimal cross-reactivity with other proteins, ensuring accurate and reliable results.
With its high affinity and excellent performance, the GAD67 Polyclonal Antibody enables researchers to study the expression and localization of GAD67 in various tissues and cell types. It provides a valuable tool for investigating the role of GAD67 in neurotransmitter synthesis and regulation, as well as its involvement in neurological disorders such as epilepsy and schizophrenia.
The GAD67 Polyclonal Antibody is supplied as a liquid formulation, making it easy to handle and use. It is available in different sizes to accommodate various experimental needs. Each batch of antibody undergoes rigorous quality control to ensure consistency and reproducibility.
In summary, the GAD67 Polyclonal Antibody is a reliable and versatile tool for researchers studying the GAD67 protein. Its high specificity, sensitivity, and diverse epitope recognition make it an essential component in neuroscience and molecular biology research.
