Keratin 13 encoded by KRT13 is a member of the keratin gene family. The keratins are intermediate filament proteins responsible for the structural integrity of epithelial cells and are subdivided into cytokeratins and hair keratins. Most of the type I cytokeratins consist of acidic proteins which are arranged in pairs of heterotypic keratin chains. This type I cytokeratin is paired with keratin 4 and expressed in the suprabasal layers of non-cornified stratified epithelia. Mutations in this gene and keratin 4 have been associated with the autosomal dominant disorder White Sponge Nevus. The type I cytokeratins are clustered in a region of chromosome 17q21.2. Alternative splicing of KRT13 results in multiple transcript variants; however, not all variants have been described.

The Cytokeratin 13 Polyclonal Antibody is a highly specific and sensitive immunological reagent designed for the detection and quantification of Cytokeratin 13 protein in various biological samples. This antibody is produced by immunizing rabbits with a synthetic peptide corresponding to the C-terminal region of human Cytokeratin 13 protein. The resulting polyclonal antibody exhibits high affinity and specificity towards Cytokeratin 13 protein, making it an ideal tool for various research applications.

The Cytokeratin 13 Polyclonal Antibody is suitable for use in various immunoassays, including Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and ELISA. It has been validated for use in human, mouse, and rat samples, and has been shown to exhibit minimal cross-reactivity with other Cytokeratin isoforms. This antibody is supplied as a liquid formulation in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) with 0.02% sodium azide as a preservative.

In summary, the Cytokeratin 13 Polyclonal Antibody is a reliable and high-quality reagent that can be used for the detection and quantification of Cytokeratin 13 protein in various biological samples. Its high specificity and sensitivity make it an ideal tool for researchers studying the role of Cytokeratin 13 in various physiological and pathological processes.
