This gene, CYP2A6, encodes a member of the cytochrome P450 superfamily of enzymes. The cytochrome P450 proteins are monooxygenases which catalyze many reactions involved in drug metabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids and other lipids. This protein localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum and its expression is induced by phenobarbital. The enzyme is known to hydroxylate coumarin, and also metabolizes nicotine, aflatoxin B1, nitrosamines, and some pharmaceuticals. Individuals with certain allelic variants are said to have a poor metabolizer phenotype, meaning they do not efficiently metabolize coumarin or nicotine. This gene is part of a large cluster of cytochrome P450 genes from the CYP2A, CYP2B and CYP2F subfamilies on chromosome 19q. The gene was formerly referred to as CYP2A3; however, it has been renamed CYP2A6.
The CYP2A6 Polyclonal Antibody is a highly specific and sensitive tool for the detection and quantification of CYP2A6 protein expression in various biological samples. This antibody is produced by immunizing rabbits with a synthetic peptide corresponding to the C-terminal region of human CYP2A6 protein. The resulting polyclonal antibody exhibits high affinity and specificity towards CYP2A6 protein, making it an ideal reagent for various applications, including Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and ELISA.
The CYP2A6 Polyclonal Antibody has been extensively validated for its specificity and sensitivity in detecting CYP2A6 protein expression in various tissues and cell lines. It has been shown to detect endogenous CYP2A6 protein expression in human liver microsomes, as well as recombinant CYP2A6 protein expressed in insect cells. This antibody has also been used successfully in immunohistochemistry to detect CYP2A6 protein expression in human lung tissue sections.
The CYP2A6 Polyclonal Antibody is supplied as a purified IgG fraction, which has been affinity-purified from rabbit serum using protein A chromatography. The antibody is provided in a liquid format, which is ready-to-use for various applications. The antibody has been formulated in a buffer containing 0.02% sodium azide as a preservative.
In summary, the CYP2A6 Polyclonal Antibody is a highly specific and sensitive tool for the detection and quantification of CYP2A6 protein expression in various biological samples. Its high affinity and specificity towards CYP2A6 protein make it an ideal reagent for various applications, including Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and ELISA. The antibody is supplied as a purified IgG fraction, which is ready-to-use for various applications.
