CYP11B1 encodes a member of the cytochrome P450 superfamily of enzymes. The cytochrome P450 proteins are monooxygenases which catalyze many reactions involved in drug metabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids and other lipids. This protein localizes to the mitochondrial inner membrane and is involved in the conversion of progesterone to cortisol in the adrenal cortex. Mutations in this gene cause congenital adrenal hyperplasia due to 11-beta-hydroxylase deficiency. Transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been noted for CYP11B1.
The CYP11B1/2 Polyclonal Antibody is a highly specific and sensitive antibody designed for use in various research applications. This antibody is produced by immunizing rabbits with a synthetic peptide corresponding to the C-terminal region of human CYP11B1/2 protein. The resulting polyclonal antibody has been purified using protein A affinity chromatography and is suitable for use in Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence assays.
The CYP11B1/2 Polyclonal Antibody has been extensively validated for its specificity and sensitivity in detecting CYP11B1/2 protein expression in various tissues and cell lines. This antibody has been shown to recognize both CYP11B1 and CYP11B2 isoforms of the protein, making it a valuable tool for studying the regulation and function of these enzymes in steroidogenesis.
This antibody is supplied as a liquid in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) with 0.02% sodium azide as a preservative. It is recommended to store the antibody at -20°C for long-term storage and to avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
In summary, the CYP11B1/2 Polyclonal Antibody is a reliable and high-quality tool for researchers studying the CYP11B1/2 protein and its role in steroidogenesis. Its specificity and sensitivity make it an ideal choice for a variety of research applications.
