COL9A1 encodes one of the three alpha chains of type IX collagen, which is a minor (5-20%) collagen component of hyaline cartilage. Type IX collagen is usually found in tissues containing type II collagen, a fibrillar collagen. Studies in knockout mice have shown that synthesis of the alpha 1 chain is essential for assembly of type IX collagen molecules, a heterotrimeric molecule, and that lack of type IX collagen is associated with early onset osteoarthritis. Mutations in this gene are associated with osteoarthritis in humans, with multiple epiphyseal dysplasia, 6, a form of chondrodysplasia, and with Stickler syndrome, a disease characterized by ophthalmic, orofacial, articular, and auditory defects. Two transcript variants that encode different isoforms have been identified for this gene.
The COL9A1 Polyclonal Antibody is a highly specific and sensitive antibody designed for the detection of COL9A1 protein in various biological samples. This antibody is produced by immunizing rabbits with a synthetic peptide corresponding to the C-terminal region of human COL9A1 protein. The antibody has been purified using protein A affinity chromatography and is supplied as a liquid solution in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) with 0.02% sodium azide as a preservative.
The COL9A1 Polyclonal Antibody has been extensively validated for its specificity and sensitivity in various applications, including Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence. It has been shown to specifically recognize the COL9A1 protein in human, mouse, and rat tissues, making it a versatile tool for researchers studying the role of COL9A1 in various biological processes.
This antibody is suitable for use in both basic research and clinical applications, including the diagnosis and prognosis of diseases associated with COL9A1 expression. It is recommended to use this antibody at a dilution of 1:1000 for Western blotting and 1:200 for immunohistochemistry and immunofluorescence.
In summary, the COL9A1 Polyclonal Antibody is a reliable and high-quality tool for the detection of COL9A1 protein in various biological samples. Its specificity and sensitivity make it an ideal choice for researchers and clinicians studying the role of COL9A1 in health and disease.
