NOTCH2 encodes a member of the Notch family. Members of this Type 1 transmembrane protein family share structural characteristics including an extracellular domain consisting of multiple epidermal growth factor-like (EGF) repeats, and an intracellular domain consisting of multiple, different domain types. Notch family members play a role in a variety of developmental processes by controlling cell fate decisions.
The Notch signaling network is an evolutionarily conserved intercellular signaling pathway which regulates interactions between physically adjacent cells. In Drosophilia, notch interaction with its cell-bound ligands (delta, serrate) establishes an intercellular signaling pathway that plays a key role in development. Homologues of the notch-ligands have also been identified in human, but precise interactions between these ligands and the human notch homologues remain to be determined.
The notch 2 is cleaved in the trans-Golgi network, and presented on the cell surface as a heterodimer. The notch 2 functions as a receptor for membrane bound ligands, and may play a role in vascular, renal and hepatic development. Two transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene.
The Cleaved-Notch 2 (A1734) Polyclonal Antibody is a highly specific and sensitive immunological reagent designed for the detection and quantification of cleaved Notch 2 protein in various biological samples. This antibody is produced by immunizing rabbits with a synthetic peptide corresponding to the cleaved Notch 2 protein sequence and purified using a combination of protein A and peptide affinity chromatography techniques.
The Cleaved-Notch 2 (A1734) Polyclonal Antibody exhibits excellent specificity and sensitivity, with minimal cross-reactivity to other proteins. It is suitable for use in a variety of applications, including Western blotting, immunohistochemistry, and immunofluorescence. This antibody is supplied as a liquid formulation in phosphate-buffered saline (PBS) with 0.02% sodium azide as a preservative. It is recommended to store the antibody at -20°C for long-term storage and avoid repeated freeze-thaw cycles.
The Cleaved-Notch 2 (A1734) Polyclonal Antibody is an essential tool for researchers studying the Notch signaling pathway and its role in various physiological and pathological processes.
