This gene is mapped to 2q33.1. This gene encodes a protein that is a member of the SUMO(small ubiquitin-like modifier) protein family. It functions in a manner similar to ubiquitin in that it is bound to target proteins as part of a post-translational modification system. However, unlike ubiquitin which targets proteins for degradation, this protein is involved in a variety of cellular processes, such as nuclear transport, transcriptional regulation, apoptosis, and protein stability. It is not active until the last four amino acids of the carboxy-terminus have been cleaved off. Several pseudogenes have been reported for this gene.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"NSJ Bioreagents","offers":[{"title":"100 ug","offer_id":51550071259416,"sku":"RQ6212","price":449.0,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0590\/5652\/1400\/files\/get_image_66c9a59a-983f-46a0-820f-8b0b3ea1a205.jpg?v=1768305206","url":"https:\/\/danabiosci.com\/products\/nsj-rq6212-100ug","provider":"Dana Bioscience","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
