The androgen receptor gene is more than 90 kb long and codes for a protein that has 3 major functional domains: the N-terminal domain, DNA-binding domain, and androgen-binding domain. The protein functions as a steroid-hormone activated transcription factor. Upon binding the hormone ligand, the receptor dissociates from accessory proteins, translocates into the nucleus, dimerizes, and then stimulates transcription of androgen responsive genes. This gene contains 2 polymorphic trinucleotide repeat segments that encode polyglutamine and polyglycine tracts in the N-terminal transactivation domain of its protein. Expansion of the polyglutamine tract from the normal 9-34 repeats to the pathogenic 38-62 repeats causes spinal bulbar muscular atrophy (Kennedy disease). Mutations in this gene are also associated with complete androgen insensitivity (CAIS). Two alternatively spliced variants encoding distinct isoform
The AR (Acetyl Lys633) Polyclonal Antibody is a highly specific and sensitive immunological reagent designed for the detection and quantification of the AR protein in various biological samples. This antibody is produced by immunizing rabbits with a synthetic peptide corresponding to the acetylated lysine 633 of the human AR protein. The resulting polyclonal antibody exhibits high affinity and specificity towards the acetylated form of the AR protein, making it an ideal tool for studying the post-translational modifications of this important transcription factor.
The AR (Acetyl Lys633) Polyclonal Antibody has been extensively validated for use in various applications, including Western blotting, immunoprecipitation, and immunofluorescence. It has been shown to detect endogenous levels of the acetylated AR protein in various human cell lines and tissues, as well as in mouse and rat samples. This antibody is also suitable for use in other species, including bovine, canine, and porcine.
The AR (Acetyl Lys633) Polyclonal Antibody is supplied as a purified IgG fraction, which has been affinity-purified from rabbit serum using a peptide column. It is provided in a liquid format, with a concentration of 1 mg/ml, and is supplied in a buffer containing 0.02% sodium azide as a preservative. This antibody is suitable for long-term storage at -20°C and is guaranteed to be stable for at least one year from the date of receipt.
In summary, the AR (Acetyl Lys633) Polyclonal Antibody is a highly specific and sensitive immunological reagent that is ideal for the detection and quantification of the acetylated form of the AR protein in various biological samples. Its high affinity and specificity make it an essential tool for studying the post-translational modifications of this important transcription factor.
