This enzyme is composed of two subunits, a large catalytic subunit (alpha) and a smaller glycoprotein subunit (beta). The catalytic subunit of Na+\/K+ -ATPase is encoded by multiple genes. ATP1A2 encodes an alpha 2 subunit.
