Two of the most commonly used protein analysis methods are ELISA and Western Blot. Both techniques are valuable, but they answer different experimental questions.
Advantages of ELISA
- Well suited for quantitative analysis
- High throughput capability
- Relatively simple workflow
Advantages of Western Blot
- Provides protein size information
- Shows band-specific detection
- Useful for expression confirmation
Which One Should You Use?
If the main goal is quantification, ELISA is often the better choice. If protein size or signal specificity is important, Western blot may be more informative.
